The real microfinance done by Boyfriend Husband


This photo might look oldie, but it is not. It is from last week. Emmanuel used to be BH's cook. Now he is a (small) restaurant owner. Emmanuel was the ultra religious type. I think he did not like me. Maybe because I slept with the patron without being married to him.

His religious aura and cooking skills conquered Hugo's stomach first and pocket later. A small loan made this possible. To me, the home version proof that access to financial services can work and a good lesson learned about trust and generosity.

Detox or how to make your life miserable

New Year, new experimenting...I am learning that detoxifying on a liquid-only diet might not be for me. This week I ate baby food for 36 hours and I craved the crunchiest thing you could imagine, from chips to a 'pain au raisins' from our local bakery. There are two camps, or multiple, but at least at my office women in camp 1 swear that drinking water only and doing internal cleansing with enemas (aaaargh) works wonders, and camp 2 believes is all fad.
